Taylor Chorney and Brian Dumoulin completely held the Rangers off the scoresheet at even-strength. Put that in contrast to Ben Lovejoy (who was, if you’ll remember, acquired for his “experience”) and his 87.8 on-ice save percentage at even-strength.
Anyone who followed Chorney and Dumoulin in Wilkes-Barre this season shouldn’t be surprised by this. As a pairing, they were on the ice for only five even-strength goals against in the AHL this season. The future is still pretty bright for the Penguins on defense. I hope the Penguins can bring Chorney back for next season on the cheap. With the way injuries run around these parts, it might be necessary. |
